Members connected over a parent's concern that their moderately verbal child was being bullied in the bathroom at school, with many sharing painful personal stories of their own children being hurt, mistreated, or humiliated without being able to fully communicate what happened. Several members recommended using a GPS tracking and listening device called AngelSense to monitor how their children are treated at school, with one cautioning to never reveal to the school how you obtained information since these devices can be challenged on privacy grounds. A recurring theme was the heartbreak of knowing your child cannot defend themselves, the frustration of schools failing to include parents in critical conversations, and the need to advocate fiercely, escalate to school boards if necessary, and remain vigilant even as children grow older.

If you do get a device don't let them know you have it just pretend like your child told you.

I use Angel Sence it has a listening feature. I heard a bus matron being mean to my son he was about 11 at the time. My biggest mistake was letting the school know how I heard her. These devices are not legal because they claim that it's a evasion of the other students privacy. They were so concerned about how I heard rather then focusing on the matron being verbally abusive. They are afraid that they are going to get caught red handed doing something wrong.

My son was bullied by 3 older kids in the bathroom when he was in 1st grade. The kids were hitting on him in the bathroom & put his head in the toilet. My son wasn’t fully able to communicate what happened so I went & spoke with his teacher. She said that the other boys were in 4th grade & they spoke with them & their parents already. Apparently they held a meeting without my knowledge. I was livid for several reasons!! First because they touched my child, second because my son wasn’t capable of defending himself, & lastly because they decided to have a meeting about my child being bullied with 3 other parents & didn’t bother even telling me what occurred. My son has Epilepsy as well as ASD and he was on seizure medication at the time. Smh. In short, I had to go to the school board and several people were in trouble due to the situation. You may have to jump some heads, if you will. My son has been bullied the majority of his life & it’s hurtful because no one wants anyone to hurt their child(ren). I wish I would have known about Angel Sense before today. I do plan to purchase it nonetheless….my son is only a sophomore in High School and you never know how people are treating your babies. I hope this helps some.
