Hello Amanda! I’m not a single parent, I’ve been married for 19 years. We got our son’s ASD diagnosis when he was 3 years old, he also was diagnosed with intellectual disability at 10. Going through this journey has not been easy, at first we would ask ourselves “what did we do to deserve this”, etc.

Your child’s diagnosis is not your fault! It is something out of our control. I know this is not an easy road, and you may feel isolated when no one else around you has a situation similar like yours. My son is 18 years old now, and we have a better idea of how much his autism and ID has affected his life. However, we have learned to rely on the Lord to find the strength to keep going.

Take one day at a time, for in time you will learn how to help your child to reach new goals and to conquer obstacles. Sometimes, we parents may not have all the answers, however, there is no one in this world who cares more about our children the way we do!

I hope you have a blessed night!
