Does Anyone Have Advice On GPS Systems For The Runners?

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question πŸ’
Virginia Beach, VA

My kid has snuck out of the house three times. Last night was the last straw. I almost lost it. The VBPD are very accommodating in helping to find him, but I am so afraid that he may get out and that i will never see him again. Please let me know if you all are using any systems, or can recommend. Thanks all

Get a cheap Door-Bell Camera. $30.00 for 6 months of Basic (Including Motion Detection) and put it by the door, and whenever they try to go for the door, your phone will ring, alerting you.

It's a gps braclet that links to the police depth that can be activated by them once you call to help find withing moments.

We use the SyncUp watch from T mobile. It gives a general location, but precise location can be turned on remotely.

Here is another option for a door lock. You lock this from the inside at night and it's very difficult for children to unlock, especially if it's mounted high.

We have used Jiobit and AngelSense and both are good. Both can be attached to your child's clothes with a pouch and magnetic pin/lock system that requires a tool to remove. AngelSense gives a somewhat more precise location and also has a communication feature that allows you to listen in and talk to your child. However, the monthly subscription is considerably more expensive than Jiobit. Another downside to AngelSense is the battery life. Ours can barely go from morning to evening on a charge. If your child is sneaking out at night that could be a problem because you do need to charge it every day at some point. The Jiobit could go at least 2-3 days on a charge.

I don't know if this would work for your situation, but have you tried or considered a double-sided door lock? We have something like the following on one of our doors:

JOUNJIP Mechanical Keyless Combination Latch Door Lock - Double Sided Keypads for Gates, Fences, Windows - No Battery No Power Needed (Oil-Rubbed Bronze) - Not a Deadbolt https://a.co/d/dWd06BZ

Whatever you end up trying, I wish you the best of luck!
