Members shared mixed experiences when asked whether primary care physicians specializing in autism exist for adults, with most agreeing that such doctors are rare and difficult to find. Several members offered practical alternatives, including YAI or Premier Healthcare offices that serve individuals with disabilities across various levels, using regular primary care doctors who are aware of their child's autism, and seeking referrals from PCPs to multiple specialists like behavioral therapists, speech therapists, OT, PT, psychologists, and autism-friendly dentists. A recurring theme was the challenge of finding providers with both medical expertise and genuine understanding of autism, paired with community members' willingness to share resources and encourage one another in the search.

Hi there. My son goes to a medical office that only deals with Individuals that are disabled. They range from serveraly disabled to not so disabled. They have a few offices in each borough. They go under the name of YAI or Premier health care. My son has been going there since he was 13 or 14. I like it because they know how to deal with the individuals no matter what level of disability they have.
