Members rallied around a parent asking about constipation and problem foods after their son struggled following meals of pasta and eggs at a care home. Several members shared helpful strategies including adding fiber-rich foods like fruits, vegetables, beans, and whole grains, while reducing dairy, processed snacks, and red meat, and making sure kids drink enough water. A recurring theme was using stool softeners like Miralax or Movicol regularly, and some members found that removing gluten and dairy or adding flax seed oil and chia seeds made a big difference.

Here is some dietary information that may help your child Increase Fiber Intake: Encourage foods high in fiber, such as:
- Fruits (apples, pears, berries, and prunes)
- Vegetables (carrots, broccoli, and spinach)
- Whole grains (oatmeal, whole wheat bread, and brown rice)
- Legumes (beans and lentils)

2. **Limit Constipating Foods**: Reduce intake of low-fiber foods, such as:
- Processed snacks (chips, cookies)
- Dairy products (excess cheese and milk)
- Red meat

I hope this helps I know consistency is key and every child is different may you consider giving this a try
Take care and God bless!!!!!🥰

My daughter is now 17 but had several gastro issues to the point she was painfully backed up for days. She takes Miralex and Senokot - a natural vegetable based laxative. We eat pretty healthy so we had to get her a Gastro doc to figure this out and help us set up this regimen. Hope that helps!

My son had lots of GI issues a leaky gut and severe constipation. Got him off of gluten and dairy which seemed to greatly help. Added flax seed oil and chia seeds to his diet also helped along with lots of water and exercise.
