Getting a lot of folks wanting to help by saying ASD children who have
terrible diets can be helped by occupational health services or by
introducing new foods, or by asking the child to help prepare the
meals, etc.. I know they want to help, but my experience is we have tried
all of those and nothing works. So many other parents are responding they
agree. What we need is science based research and therapies in the area by
professionals who are qualified to know and treat ASD children. We need
help! Passing these problems off will cause these children to grow up
with diabetes or heart disease or other serious complications for terrible
diets1

Very concerned grandfather of a 9 year old grandson.

No, just hoping Autism Speaks reviews these comments and advocates for our children based on our input.

Thank you but we have tried all of that, therapists, food offerings, involvement in preparations, on and on. I don't agree about research given different ASD food issues and types of problems here. It was research that got us ABA therapy which has been amazing to help our grandson. He is doing very well, except that the food he eats is certainly going to cause him diabetes, heart disease, etc. at a young age. . Occupational therapy is worthless, as that is really outside of their expertise and most are not trained on ASD children. All I am asking Autism Speaks is to tell me where the research and science and therapies to help him???? They have not answered except by directing me to posts by other parents who agree, we need help here and not just confirmation that it is a wide spread problem.
