I was gifted in math and science so after getting high marks my guidance counselor told me to that college were interested in me and if you wanted the challenge to get into the Advanced Placement classes it would be a SMART goal. Remember this was back in late 90s. I just read a newspaper piece on some schools have a Dual education program where this girl got her Associates Degree the same week she got her high school diploma at minimum to no cost. So, a support system that challenge me to ask what I wanted helped shape a path for my education. Maybe you can find a subject or trade that interested them and get a mentor. internship, apprenticeship or something that they would feel force to attend since it turns out something to look forward to. Be observant if they watch HGTV, This Old House or something the triggers both sides of the brain to spark a new undiscovered talent. Mine was poetry and oil painting

Maria does so well in school n therapy we r so proud of her so at home we allow her her free time n she loves her tablet n YouTube! I feel like we should do more but at the same time I'm just glad that's she's safe happy n having fun 😊

DonnaJ- With Photography there are some Photography Societies that meet on a monthly basis and discuss certain themes and camera use topics. The cool thing is they have a monthly contest in different categories (black/white, sepia, altered etc) Some magazines have their own contest that might get his feet wet and exposure to the professional level photographers. With it being summer time, maybe he can volunteer gigs for weddings, trade shows or something that is local newspaper might publish his work. If he is tech savvy create own website to advertise which farmer/flea market his work for sale can be. The community college or parks and rec department might offer no credit educational programs in the summer/fall

I planned to go to college after high school because I initially wanted to be a biology teacher. I started the fall after I had graduated as a biology education major. Well 3 years into it, I learned that it just wasn't my niche. I'd known that I'd always liked helping others and wanted to take it further, so social work, it was! I excelled and graduated two years later at 23. I'd always been someone who gave my best effort and was conscientious about my schoolwork. I'm glad my education took the path it did, because I can't imagine working in any other field!

Has your son talked about any careers he is interested in, or does he gravitate toward anything in particular? I know you mentioned he likes electronics. I've always liked hands-on things, too :)
