Finding the Right Boarding School:
Research and Visit:
Thoroughly research different boarding schools and, if possible, visit the ones that seem like a good fit.
Consult with Professionals:
Seek guidance from professionals, such as therapists, educators, or specialists in autism, to help you identify the best options for your child.
Read Reviews and Testimonials:
Look for reviews and testimonials from other families who have experience with the school to gain insights into their experiences.
Assess Staff Training and Experience:
Ensure that the staff at the boarding school are adequately trained and experienced in working with students on the autism spectrum.
Observe the School Environment:
When visiting the school, pay attention to the overall environment and how students interact with each other and the staff.

For families in Virginia seeking boarding school options for students on the autism spectrum, options like Discover Seven Stars offer specialized programs that focus on developing coping skills, academic support, and therapeutic interventions. These programs often incorporate strengths-based approaches, structured environments, and opportunities for social skills development within a residential setting

There's something here in NY called the Shrub Oak International School for Autism. It's maybe the name but you can google it. I don't know anything about it though

While the search results don't specifically mention international boarding schools, it's important to note that finding the right educational environment for a child with autism requires careful consideration of their unique needs. Some families do relocate internationally to access better services, but this is a major decision that requires thorough research.

Before considering international options, here are some key factors to evaluate:
• The school's experience with autism
• Available support services and therapies
• Staff-to-student ratios
• Communication protocols
• Cultural and language considerations
• Distance from family support systems It's recommended to:
1. Research schools thoroughly and visit if possible
2. Connect with other parents who have experience with international schools
3. Consider consulting with an educational advocate
4. Review the school's specific autism support programs
5. Understand what accommodations they can provide
6. Verify their licensing and accreditation

Remember that some families have found success with alternative options like specialized local schools or homeschooling programs if international boarding schools aren't the right fit.
