This sums my learning style up pretty well.
How to support learning
Structure and predictability: Create routines and clearly communicate expectations to reduce overwhelm and anxiety. Use visual schedules and cues to help with transitions and understanding the day's activities.
Break down information: Present information in smaller, more manageable steps. For example, break down complex social concepts into concrete actions.
Simplify language: Use clear, direct language and avoid sarcasm or idioms that can be misinterpreted. Give extra processing time after asking a question, like the "6-second rule".
Provide visual aids: Visual supports like storyboards, comic strips, and written rules can be very helpful, especially for visual learners.
Address sensory needs: Minimize sensory overload by adjusting the environment with features like soft lighting and quiet spaces.
Differentiate based on learning style: Recognize that autistic people can have different learning styles. Some learn best through visual or hands-on methods, while others may learn well through auditory input or movement. Adjust teaching methods accordingly.
Hello to you all,
Yes I worry if I am showing my son the right way to handle a problem.. Sometimes I walk away when I am becoming frustrated. That can be seen as a good thing, but I fear I'm teaching my son to walk away and not have self-control. Does this make sense?
thanks @A MyAutismTeam Member I'll watch son's youtube content from now on
Oh yes I do that! Or my son does!
