He couldn't cross the roads and always never recognized his house as went to someone's else house closer to Shops.
Most serious was he tried to cross motorway but luckily it was not crowded and never ever went on that route again
@A MyAutismTeam Member my mom tells me that I used to get out of my stroller when I was little. I remember hiding in the clothes racks, too ๐
His lack of ability to recognize danger many times something simple like returning home with our family we have had him take off down the alley of our area, like out of the van and bolt away (think eyes off them for a second that was at age 3/4 he ) Luckily we live in a quiet area but my fear of traffic/walking with him worrying i wont catch up or he would just be gone was a major fear. he also has grown and listens better lately when we go out together . Also he has got past the age of me being able to carry him if he has a full on meltdown in public. I have a memory of taking him to the park at 4 where I carried him 4 blocks spitting hitting and headbutting me while seeing red, it was time to go and had already had extra time there if that was to come up now we would have to sit and wait it out. Its unfortunate. It makes a person feel not good enough. Over little things also he loves riding a bike and we encourage lots of physical activities i basically run beside him as he has learned speed, this recent summer he leaped off his bike and ran across the street to chase a cat. (Thank god there was no cars coming) Another time same situation leaping off to run towards a person walking there dog to see the dog (simple things like that which were so unexpected. I havent given up on doing these thing I just try to be more mindful of everything around me and constantly teaching him you know, dont chase after animals.. or how to behave if you see a stranger and a dog (luckily the person was extremely kind and the dog was friendly but its also common sense to teach not to scare a dog by running at it) animals can react anyway even a good well behaved one.
When my son was going through puberty at 14 his behaviour was terrible. At that time he wasn't on any medication. I had to call the police and he was led out in handcuffs and taken to the hospital psy ward. I was right there with him . After running back and forth to the hospital they finally kept him for 6 days . That was the worst time in my life I couldn't eat or sleep. I was at the hospital every day. His dad was away at the time when he came back we went to the hospital together. His dad has never been much help all the weight is on my shoulders. I'm happen that chapter of my life is over. That was 10 years ago .
