3-Year-Old almost four ASD nonverbal just been so overwhelming. We have to keep him and a onesie with pajama pants underneath or else he will dig in his diaper and smear it or eat it. My son is 15 and nonverbal. I don't have the answers but your feelings are valid and it's definitely a struggle finding the right placement for your child. Some years and teachers are going to be more of a struggle than others. I have been lucky enough that my son has had some teachers and paras who were a blessing and a good fit. Other years not so much. One teacher that my son was only in her class a month I had some big issues with. She kept confusing tantrums and meltdown. Sounds like to me you are doing everything right, getting communication and advocating for you son. A lot of teachers think they have the answers but really just want your child to be more convenient. The shoes and stuff sound like a sensory issue. My son still only wears shoes half the day a lot of the day. I know it's really frustrating to have your kid misunderstood and legitimately worrying about them. You are not a failure. Document your concerns with dates just in case. Trust your gut. Hang in there. It's not you or your effort that is lacking. It really is a fight to get adequate, appropriate support at times.
