My son is now counting everyday. We will count together. The best part is us now able to sing his favorite songs together. My son used to be nonverbal. To see the transformation is just a blessing in itself. I am so grateful for him. He is an amazing boy!!!!

My son use to have terrible meltdowns. I use to hate to take him out. Now it's a pleasure to take him out shopping he's actually very helpful especially when it comes to lifting those 40 pack bottled water at Bjs.

What progress have you or your child/adult child made that makes your day?

That's wonderful that your nonverbal son is becoming more aware of people and hugging back since attending the charity gatherings! Social connections can make such a meaningful difference.

Many parents on MyAutismTeam share similar heartwarming moments of progress:

Communication breakthroughs:
- Children learning to use AAC devices or PECS to express their needs
- Kids starting to mouth words, make eye contact, or sing along to favorite songs
- Gradual vocabulary growth, even starting with just a few words

Social and emotional growth:
- Making and keeping friendships through shared interests like gaming or anime clubs
- Showing respect and listening to teachers in activities like karate
- Forming new relationships that expand their view of what's possible

Daily life wins:
- Trying new foods after months of eating the same thing
- Self-potty training or improving handwriting through occupational therapy
- Getting jobs and receiving appreciation from coworkers

Every small step forward is worth celebrating. As one MyAutismTeam member beautifully put it: "Hope NEVER fades. The sooner you learn to go at your child's pace and not some cookie-cutter 'expected' milestone pace and relax, the better."

It's also great that you're reading more for yourself - taking care of your own growth matters too!
