Prozac

Prozac

My daughter is 11 and her SIB’s and maladaptive behaviors’ are increasing!! She is definitely going through puberty We are about to start a low dose of Prozac bc Medical Marijuana is not an option in my state which sucks because THC did amazing when tried once with an edible!! I would prefer this over any other prescribed drugs!! If it is legal in your state I highly recommend getting on it!! Please anyone give me feed back on Prozac!! She is also EXTREMELY OCD and SEVERE ANXIETY!! Thank-you

What are the best school districts/schools in the Los Angeles Area?

What are the best school districts/schools in the Los Angeles Area?

To preface, my ds is high-functioning and currently in a mainstream charter. He is receiving speech therapy 3x week at school. Would love to hear any school and/or districts that you have personal experience with that have provided support for your child on the spectrum in Los Angeles County (around Cerritos, Cypress, Long Beach vicinity).

Any parents here have extremely aggressive kids? What has helped your child, and what do you do for yourself to tolerate it?

Any parents here have extremely aggressive kids? What has helped your child, and what do you do for yourself to tolerate it?

Hoping to collaborate with other parents in our findings as to what can help our family. Medications are becoming far more ineffective and we are ready to wean him off of his psychiatric meds, but we have really run into problems weaning more so than him being on them. We'd like to know more about the parents that have success with other treatments!

Question for the Miami locals, does anyone have recommendation for speech therapy centers in Miami? Options seem very scarce or extremely expensive/not accepting insurance. We would appreciate any feedback. Thanks,

Anti social behavior becoming worse

Anti social behavior becoming worse

We have a 12 y.o. Autistic son. He has steadily become more confrontational with his family(11 yo sister, 15yo brother), mom and dad. He acts as if he is 3 years old, making messes all over, we have everything in the house locked because he will take anything he wants. He has no filter for his speech at home or school. He was suspended from school this year twice already. Last time a kid overheard him saying he wanted to harm all the teachers. I don't think he would at all he… read more

My daughter is about to turn 7 (she was diagnosed when she was 2 with moderate autism) and is becoming more aggressive when she doesn't get her way or is told "no" and she's recently started to cause self injury, I'm not really wanting to have to put her on medication for this but I have been reading about "Risperdal" what are your thoughts on this and has anyone used this to help their child with autism to help with their… read more

To try or not to try biomedical

To try or not to try biomedical

Hi dear fellow parents,
I wish to hear your thoughts and opinions as I am still undecided, even though every case is different, all opinions will be highly appreciated.

In Malaysia, biomedical is still limited, its about 6 hours drive away from my house. Very long waiting list, to make an appointment, need to be about 4 months in advance. And believe its pricey.

About my son -
- He's turning 7 soon
- Diagnosed at around 3 yrs old, high functioning autism.
- Some very mild stimming… read more

How often are parents of autistic children right when they notice signs in other children?

How often are parents of autistic children right when they notice signs in other children?

Hi so I had (past tense for other reasons) a friend whom was very close for a few months with 2 girls and her oldest daughter 4yrs was diagnosed with asd. Well I was having alot of behavioral trouble with my son and I was getting worried about how he was acting. Hitting his head when he was mad (with his fists or on the wall), his speech was falling way behind(compared to ALOT of other kids) and his overall developmental… read more
