My son has Absonce Seizures so his doctor first put him on Zerontin well he was having headaches and stomach aches daily as well as losing 2 pounds in 2 months.His doctor switched him to Depakote which has caused very horrible behavior issues so he was switched back to the Zerontin but for the next 3 days he has be on both meds,I'm just hoping that "my" well behaved son returns after the Depakote is out of his system.Has anyone else had experience with your children not listening being violent… read more

That is what my son is currently taking, it's hard to say because he is nonverbal, and I've read a lot about it causing liver and kidney problems.
Is depakene the same thing?my son's neurologist just switches him from Zonegran to Depakene today. I want to know the difference? I asked to switch because the Zonegran was causing negative side effects.

So I'm taking Levi to have his blood drawn tomorrow for genetic testing, and I'm dreading it. Any tips? I don't want to traumatize him having to hold him down :(
He had the genetic testing testing as well he was negative and he was also tested for OCD that's tested by blood which was negative
My son has been having some bad habits. Hitting throwing things yelling ect. We may be putting him on meds. Other parents I spoke with said it made a difference for the better when they did this. What are your thoughts? Hope you all have a blessed day.
My son is 7 and autistic he takes Depakote at night, does anyone know about this medication? It seems like it gives him restless leg syndrome, he is mostly non-verbal.
hello, my son is 7 yrs old with an ASD diagnosis, his father told me that his pediatrician was putting him on 350mg of Depakote daily, he says its because my son had 2 seizures recently, but I feel like it is being used to sedate him. Is this normal?

We have had a very hard summer. My son is 9 years old , non verbal, low functioning, very irritable and aggressive all the time and has been on respirdol for quite a few years and he has had to have it increase it a lot because after a few months it doesn't help him anymore. HELLO, I HOPE EVERYONE IS DOING WELL. My son is 8, mostly non-verbal, hates doctors and fights them off, they know he's Autistic at the lab, he's supposed to get his blood drawn every three-6 months to test liver and kidney levels since he takes Depakote, but they are never able to get blood from him, even with Ativan given to him an hour before, he won't even let them put a blood pressure cuff on him! Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
