Planning to move from washington state to los angeles

Planning to move from washington state to los angeles

Planning to move from washington state (puyallup) to los angles hoping for better autism services. The wait list here for therapies as well as appointment for developmental pedia is unbearable (only 2 dev pedia in pierce county atm). Just wondering if there are better services somewhere in burbank or glendale area. My son is 10 has a diagnosis, has iep, in special center class, gets 30mins of speech weekly in public school. No ABA yet.

Visitation

Visitation

Any suggestions on Creating a new visitation schedule. My 3Yo is on the standard possession schedule now. 1,3,5 weekends
3weeks in summer before his diagnosis. Now he is having trouble with transitions. Can somebody share what their visitation schedule looks like?
I’m thinking about proposing 1night every 1,3,5th weekend. Summer with his Therapy schedule and not to mention that’s too long for him to be away from his home. His father thinks that I’m being controlling but I need to have a plan that will… read more

My granddaughter is non-verbal, walks on tip-toes, loves anything that spins, very little eye contact. What can I do to help her when she's with me?

Options Other Than Preschool for Almost 4 YO?

Options Other Than Preschool for Almost 4 YO?

My son was recently diagnosed with ASD. He is in speech therapy, OT and PT. The developmental pediatrician and his therapists keep telling me they highly recommend that I put him in preschool but I would prefer to keep him at home. Every time I ask what in home options there are they try to talk me out of it and will not talk to me about other options. Otherwise they are great and I do not want to switch to another DP or other therapists, but I am having a hard time… read more

Looking for recommendations

Looking for recommendations

I'm looking for recommendations on occupational therapists, speech language therapists, and BCBAs. I'm in Ontario and interested in accessing telepractice, virtual consultative practices.. this way I can skip the issue of being in a community distant from the major cities, but still get the breadth of expertise my kids would need.

Where to live for BEST autism services (child and adult)

Where to live for BEST autism services (child and adult)

Hello all! I was hoping some of you could share your insight. Our toddler was diagnosed with autism a year ago. We live in TX and don't have much reason to live here (we are not originally from TX, family is scattered throughout the country). I'm trying to research the top 3-4 locations/states to consider for moving for our son's long term future (i.e. therapy/education for his childhood and resources/programs for his adulthood). We want to move somewhere we… read more

Has anyone opted out of a year of school for fulltime therapy?

Has anyone opted out of a year of school for fulltime therapy?

New school year starts next week , and we decided not to enroll our son in kindergarten so he can continue recieving 35-40 hrs of ABA therapy a week. He has attended pre-k from age 3-5 ( he has a late bday ) so he gets the idea of school and will continue to be in a learning environment with other children with the ABA agency.

So my question is , has anyone stopped formal schooling to focus on your child’s therapy. How did it go? And if you guys… read more
