Any Tips For Easing The Shaving Stresses?

Any Tips For Easing The Shaving Stresses?

I'm going through the struggles of helping my son shave. He's unable to do it himself, so of course I do it for him. He likes the straight razor over the electric razor ( the noise is bothersome), but being Autistic, he has a hard time with me having to stare at him while I shave his face. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get through it with less stress on him?

1st Grade Challenges For HFA In Public School

1st Grade Challenges For HFA In Public School

Hello all! I am having a rough time with my 6 yr old son. He just started 1st grade in a mainstream class with therapy a few times a week. He has been acting out and very disruptive since the first day. Even though they have him in therapy and he is already diagnosed with HFA, they seem not to know how to deal with him or help him work through it. Is anyone else having this trouble? I am seriously questioning if mainstream class is right for him, even though he is… read more

My Son Is Getting His Wisdom Teeth Removed Next Month. I'm Worried About What I'll Feed Him Afterwards.

My Son Is Getting His Wisdom Teeth Removed Next Month. I'm Worried About What I'll Feed Him Afterwards.

He's getting the work done in the hospital because he needs to be put out. I'm not worried about that because we've had dental work done in the hospital before. But I don't know what I'm going to feed him afterwards. The only soft food that he'll eat is chocolate pudding and juice. Any ideas?

Any Parents In North Texas Home School? Any Groups Out There That Meet For Social Opportunities?

I am the mom of an 8 yr old boy with PPD-NOS and ADHD. We homeschool and are looking for homeschooling groups that focus on special needs children and have social gatherings or group activities. Any groups in North Texas who do this? We live in Anna, TX (north of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex)

Try 4-H, a lot of homeschoolers belong. Even if you don't want to do the program, you can probably find another group that is perfect for you! Also,… read more

Any Suggestions For First Trip To The Beach (ocean)?

Any Suggestions For First Trip To The Beach (ocean)?

Any tips to having a successful trip the beach that would be different than a trip that doesn't involve the sand, waves, ocean, people, ect? I have done other trips short and long with my son (who is almost 10), but never taken him to any beach. We leave tomorrow and am just trying to make I have covered everything. Any ideas from those who have experienced it and wish they would have done or brought something different?

I Wanted To Ask Parents To Know How Well Their Autistic Child Transitioned From Elementary To Middle School?

I Wanted To Ask Parents To Know How Well Their Autistic Child Transitioned From Elementary To Middle School?

Even though my son is currently in 2nd grade, I can't help but wonder about his future especially once he finishes Elementary. My son is no longer in special education classes but he does need help in a lot of things. His school work for now isn't an issue, it's the normal everyday things he needs help with. Like opening his food, having to supervise him getting dressed, reminding him about things he needs… read more

Insurance Double Coverage?

Insurance Double Coverage?

Does anyone have double coverage on medical or dental insurance? We currently have insurance paid for through my husbands job, I'm wondering if there would be any benefit to also get insurance through my job? I've heard pro's and con's and not sure what to believe. I've heard if you get the same HMO you can most likely avoid any copay's and other expenses, since what ever one insurance doesn't cover the other insurance would? Is this true? We currently have Kaiser HMO and would most… read more
