Has anyone done a Due Process on their own without a lawyer or Mediation?

Has anyone done a Due Process on their own without a lawyer or Mediation?

We are looking into doing a Due Process after paying a lawyer for nearly two years $6,000 only to have her just release us withoiut doing any work not even contact a district that denied our daughter in 12th grade FAPE. We have evidence of at least 10 IDEA violations and about the same amount in state education laws. Too late for a citizen complaint and the district has ignored us for these past two years. Doing some research and looking… read more

Help Me to Help My Son Resources: Medical, Education, Peditrician,: ABA therapist, Transportation & Prayer

Our children do not walk around with a sign saying I have this diagnosis WATCH OUT
However, it has become my living nightmare getting qualified resources.

In Baltimore, Maryland there aren't any medical service providers that take kids under three for mental health diagnosis/treatment. Technically no one wants to diagnosis that young or put a child on medication, but my son since 2017 has steadily gotten… read more

Hi. What is your input on using one aba therapist for a month and then switching?

Hi. What is your input on using one aba therapist for a month and then switching?

My son is three with ASD. We just got a diagnosis and now all support (o.t. s.t. and Aba) is falling in place. I'm considering using a facility with ABA therapy for one month then changing providers once school starts in sept. I want to do this to be one month ahead but i have no experience with any therapies to know if this effort is productive. The reason to change is that this provider can start now but cant fit in the early start… read more

I would like to know if any of you have tried Cytoflora and if you have, what kind of results did you see in your child?

I would like to know if any of you have tried Cytoflora and if you have, what kind of results did you see in your child?

I've been reading mostly great things about this probiotic and some parents have seen impressive gains in their child's speech and socialization. Here's the link to the product website, http://www.bioray.com/cytoflora/ If you type in "cytoflora and autism" in a search engine, you'll see tons of articles and blogs on the subject.

Is it true that people with Autism like to talk about a favorite interest ?

Is it true that people with Autism like to talk about a favorite interest ?

My son is arguing with me that it's not true. However, I have Autism and I talked about my favorite topic even if others weren't into that.

Discipline

Discipline

Being new to this special world, I'm told as a mom that I'm too soft when it comes to discipline. Mind you, my son is 3 and non verbal, when he stands on a chair or climbs on top of the table or throws something, my husband thinks yelling at him and smacking his butt is a better way. Which I don't believe in. I get down to my son's level and explain why it's wrong. But when he does it his way, my son doesn't want anything to do with him. I'm I being to soft? I was hit as a child and hated my parent… read more

Meds...how do you get your kiddos to take?? Help!

Meds...how do you get your kiddos to take?? Help!

This is my first post, so thanks in advance.

My 9 (almost 10) yo daughter is autistic, has ADHD, SPD, ODD, anxiety, and bladder dysfunction to name a few. I hate listing out her "labels" because that is not who she is; however, because of all of these, she has difficulty making sure to drink enough through the day AND does not use the bathroom properly...holds until too late and also wears pullups at night. She gets frequent UTIs (no structural issues… read more
