Help Ex Wont Give My Son His Meds.

Help my ex wont give my son his meds on the weekends or vacation time he has him. so my son goes days without it and comes home more upset and violent with his sisters and me. I have try to talk to his father about making sure that he gets it but got told that he can give it to himself which the doctor says no because of where he is on the spectrum. I have tired talking to DFCS where I live and got told they cant do anything because I have the child most of the time. What else… read more

Is It Me Or Is It Him?

Is It Me Or Is It Him?

Presume you have a relationship with someone diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum, I would appreciate as objective answers as possible please. I want to know if I am the only one who has these feelings.

Do you consider your Autistic child to be different in a special way that gives or has given them a unique perspective on life, that they have something special to offer the world?

Do you feel your child possesses skills that are advanced above typical children and if so what are they?

Do you… read more

Angel Sense

Angel Sense

Has anyone ever heard of Angel Sense? If u have have u tried it? My son will be starting classes in September with BCIU/early intervention and im worried how he will do and how teachers will treat him. It has a tracker if ur kid goes missing and u can even listen in on conversation wherever they are. It snaps to clothing or backpack. Wanted to know if its worth getting for the price and is it really reliable. Its rated 5 star's. Let me know what u guys think.

Anyone Else Have A Child That Is Low Functioning On The Spectrum?

Anyone Else Have A Child That Is Low Functioning On The Spectrum?

We talked to our dr's at the autism center earlier this year and the possibility of our son being diagnosed with "intellectual disability" came up. I would love to talk to someone here who may be going through the same thing now or in the past with your child. Or if you don't mind sharing your story here, we would really appreciate it.
Thank you

For Those Of You Who Have Firstborn Children On The Spectrum, Did/Have/Will You Have More Children? If So,why Or Why Not?

For Those Of You Who Have Firstborn Children On The Spectrum, Did/Have/Will You Have More Children? If So,why Or Why Not?

My daughter is HFA and is the only child. I also have sibs who are Moderate/Severe autistic. My husband and I talk about having more children after I finish getting my degree, but I can't take the risk. It seems that ASD runs in my family and everyday I look at my child and KNOW that my genetics caused her to be on the spectrum. My question is for those who only have one child, or… read more

What I Wish My Friends And Family Knew About My Child

What I Wish My Friends And Family Knew About My Child

Sometimes it's hard to help those closest to us understand what life is really like with raising a child on the spectrum. What do you wish they could better understand about your child?
