Good Schools In Irvine, California?

Good Schools In Irvine, California?

Hello, we've heard great things about the school districts in Irvine. My 5 year old daughter was diagnosed with moderate ASD. She's been in a special day class in San Leandro, CA and has been in every type of service since she was initially diagnosed (private OT, ABA, Speech and music therapy). The school has offered the basics, and not even OT! After sending letters she will finally have an assessment. She is transitioning to Kinder. At this point we are willing to move wherever services are… read more

How Do You All Deal With Your Violent Or Aggressive Children Being Isolated From Other Kids?

How Do You All Deal With Your Violent Or Aggressive Children Being Isolated From Other Kids?

My son is extremely violent and aggressive towards other children, but I am really struggling because I don't want him to be isolated and have no contact with other kids. Parents that we used to have play-dates with no longer feel comfortable bringing their children around our home. How do you all deal with that feeling of isolation as a parent, and also the guilt and shame of not feeling able to bring your child around other kids?

What Combination Of School Resources, Private Therapies, Etc. Worked For Your Kid?

What Combination Of School Resources, Private Therapies, Etc. Worked For Your Kid?

I'll preface this with saying yes, I know... every ASD child is different, has different needs, and will respond differently to any given therapy. But I am just curious.

With my 3 year old, she has very mild ASD for the most part... some delayed echolalia, expressive language delay (mostly with responding to questions without prompts/repeating), a bit of OT and PT delay, sensitivity to sudden loud sounds. Anyway, we are getting her signed up for 4 mornings a week at a developmental preschool… read more
