Hello, we've heard great things about the school districts in Irvine. My 5 year old daughter was diagnosed with moderate ASD. She's been in a special day class in San Leandro, CA and has been in every type of service since she was initially diagnosed (private OT, ABA, Speech and music therapy). Help my ex wont give my son his meds on the weekends or vacation time he has him. so my son goes days without it and comes home more upset and violent with his sisters and me. I have try to talk to his father about making sure that he gets it but got told that he can give it to himself which the doctor says no because of where he is on the spectrum. What do you encourage for independent play. Be have drawing and puzzles down but can't seem to find anything else she'll take interest in. She's almost 3 and electronics are not an option at this time.
Musicial instruments is a thought. I'd love for her to learn to play something. :)
My son is extremely violent and aggressive towards other children, but I am really struggling because I don't want him to be isolated and have no contact with other kids. Parents that we used to have play-dates with no longer feel comfortable bringing their children around our home. How do you all deal with that feeling of isolation as a parent, and also the guilt and shame of not feeling able to bring your child around other kids?
I'll preface this with saying yes, I know... every ASD child is different, has different needs, and will respond differently to any given therapy. But I am just curious.
With my 3 year old, she has very mild ASD for the most part... some delayed echolalia, expressive language delay (mostly with responding to questions without prompts/repeating), a bit of OT and PT delay, sensitivity to sudden loud sounds.
