The definition of homeschool here is a center setup with small number of students. (Homeschool here may have different definition to most other countries, where it means strictly doing studies in own home).
My son is 7 years old, high functioning autism. Currently placed in nursery (preschool daycare)

Therefore I ended with Option B, seeing that it has a good ratio mixture of special and normal kids, and teachers are prepared to accept special kids

My mother in law is a cosmetologist, and apparently one of her clients does horse therapy in our area with special needs kids... Like went to school for it... Has anyone had any experience with this? What did you think? Likes? Dislikes? My daughter (7 years old) loves horses and I think would love just horseback riding lessons. The therapy is much more expensive which is ok, I just am not sure what it will teach her that she doesn't already know about animals/horses. I guess I'm trying to decide… read more

I am a mother of a 2.5 yr old boy that everyone I've talked to or asked has agreed they think he has autism, including his doctor. We have been waiting almost a year just to get an appointment from the specialist to get him diagnosed. He is nonverbal and in language classes and help me grow program but nothing specifically to help him with his autistic signs because he hasn't been diagnosed yet. Is there anything else I can do to get him help sooner or even a diagnosis sooner then the year to… read more
Hey!! I would suggest to take it into your own hands. Pretend he does have ASD diagnosis then do your own research. 👍🏻 it will seem overwhelmed at first, but charting is very important, and routines… read more

Thanks so much molly I will definitely be looking up the boards and appreciate all your advice! Chow I also agree I will have to be his biggest advocate at home if I want to see a positive change in… read more

My son loves our family dog, but our little 12lb doggie is very hyper and can't sit still for more than 2 seconds, so he's not very reliable when it comes to calming tantrums or teaching appropriate social skills. I've read research and it seems that there's mounting evidence that the presence of dogs (in certain cases), can help teach some autistic children empathy, appropriate social behaviors and responsibility.
Absolutely. But the time/money needed was a determent for us as well as the fact I couldn't find anyone in our area that provided a service dog.I did a lot of research and decided to train a puppy… read more
