I playfully hope there are programs that will support our children with autism as adults? With autism on the rise so much this should be a top priority. Will there ever be a cure for autism? We have hit a wall with ABA and receptive language. My 3.5 year old son has outsmarted our therapists for 9 months, we though he knew labels for common items. We would ask him to hand us an item from a field of 6 items. We figured out that he was memorizing locations or items, or would only get it correct if prompted first. My son is a HFA. He is a freshman in college. He has several accomodations but it is not quite enough. I am handling all of the executive functioning skills for him. I'm scheduling his coursework out on a calendar and following up with him to make sure it is done. My marriage has gone through so many seasons and we richly appreciate one another. No one else knows,like my husband, what i'm going through.
having three children with ASD help us become better teammates, understanding our relaxation style, managing expectations, understanding our stressors, open/honest communication, understanding how we appologize, and personality/parenting styles.
Our children have deepen our dedication to one another.

I'm trying to find good resources on parenting girls with autism. I'm father to two girls, 7 & 10. The 7-year-old has an ASD level 1 diagnosis, as well as ADHD. We suspect the 10-year-old has the same but only an ADHD diagnosis so far. I'm looking for books, podcasts, or other resources related to parenting autistic girls. Thanks for any help you can offer!

My 7 year old daughter was diagnosed yesterday with ASD. She matches up more with the Aspergers diagnosis that no longer exists. I am writing as I am a mum of a 10mo. We live in a different country that both set of grandparents. I have struggled immensely with their visits as they do not understand our parenting style, and in particular don't understand that our baby doesn't need to be touched or interrupted by them when he plays. I have not been able to find any concrete information in regards to coming up with a parenting plan that's in the best interest of my 7 year old son on ASD.
