How Long Have You Waited For Diagnosis At Riley Hospital, Indianapolis?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

We're on the waiting list for autism diagnosis while my son is receiving EI. He's 25 months. Our pedi sent a referral to Riley Hospital for Children (IN) more than two months ago, but still no words but that their intake coordinator will contact us when an appointment can be scheduled. If any has been to Riley, how long was your wait time? We're really hoping to have him diagnosed as he still does not interact with other kids (plus some sensory issues). Any response would be greatly appreciated.

This is just general advice, I'm not familiar with that place... but-Call them and see what stage of intake triage your child is in, if any.. then be persistent and keep checking in with them. Also ask them if there's anything you can do to speed things along. Have they sent you a packet of questions to fill out? If not, ask them if you need to have one. Don't hesitate to ask questions, its your dime and you child. I found reasons to call about every 10 days.. just to keep myself informed. It drove me crazy not to know anything. ya know?

I found that the Riley Child Development Center had a much shorter wait time than the other Autism place there.

Call once a week and ask if they have had any cancelations and how long the wait is. Also make sure you are on a cancelation list. The two sites local to us are between 3-6 months for an apt.

Thanks, pennysisco. It looks like they just want me to wait till their intake calls me. But I'll keep checking even if the same answer returns. thanks.

Thanks Jennefer. That seems good news.
