Anyone have any ideas or feeling one way or the other about DAN/MAP doctors? I feel like going to his peditrician is often pointless and frusterating, the developmental/autism specialist is a joke and last time told me their purpose is just to find the right drug (for ADHD symptoms for example) and another autism special actually replied "We are not research based". so my question is what is your experiance? I will be honest I am 100% against Hyberbarric oxygen and chelation...
Our biomed dr. follows much of the DAN protocol but does not recommend nor perform HBOT & chelation as he does not feel the risk/benefit ratio is favorable for those. We have seen dramatic jumps literally within days of adding certain nutritional supplements whereas with traditional therapies the gains have been of the "slow and steady" kind. Now not everything we have tried on the recommendation of our biomed dr. has worked, but absolutely seeing him has been one of the best things we have done for DD.
Wish I could a doctor around here like that. I really want one who will look at symptoms and order tests and find the answers and offer real solutions.
He is not DAN-affiliated so he is not listed on their site. I found out about him through some fellow moms in a local support group. He is not a general pediatrician but focuses on holistic treatments for ASD and ADHD. He is a graduate of Dr. Andrew Weil's integrative medicine training program at the Univ. of AZ med school.
i never tried some people said that is good
how did you find him? was it through a DAN site or another biomed? DO you see just for ongoing or for sick visits as well?
