Help With Daughter With Depression And Other Issues
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I need a lil help, my daughter is having symptoms of depression and lack of interest in many things she is weepy etc. she has no focus. She has been on busphar but it seems to not be doing anything but keep aggression at bay. we are seeing her psychiatrist on Thursday and would love some help from others who may have the same issues. any advice on medications that have worked for you... We are very worried for her.

I agree with Mclennon about seeing a Neurologist.
Also do research on the side affects of the meds she's on. I know they put our kid on Strattara and his aggressions increased like mad.

He's not on any meds now. I don't think all psychiatrist are good and they tend to use the wrong things. In fact in Europe and the UK some of the meds we use on our kids are banned there.

So do your research, because a med should make things better not worse.

Have you thought about having her seen by an Neurologist? Because it sounds like there's more going on than depression. am not a doctor but I am a medical professional. EEG Technician i run the test that looks for any abnormal activities to the brain. sometimes it's the meds or something else is going on not saying there's anything wrong with her neurology wise, but you never know an neurologist can help you, he well order an routine eeg test thats done in there office or hospital it's an one hour test followed by an mri with contrast or without it depends on the doctor(contrast during an mri well check the boold and oxygen flow to the brain). If i were you i would make an appointment with an neurologist first, because it does not make any sense to put her on all these difference meds without getting to the heart on her problem so do that first vs having her seen by a psychiatrist.

We use Risperdone, setrline and intuniv. But puberty will causr depression sometimes. Tjeir hormones including boys are all out of wack.

My daughter was the same and no medication really worked.as she got into puberty it got worse. Sensory integration from an occupational therapist, craniosacral therapy and bio medical supports did what 8 years of psychologists could not. Contrary to what some doctors said Heather did graduate, drives, works and lives independently and was never institutionalized as suggested.,
