How can I tell my 6 year old son off for spitting. It's just started today. He does it more if you tell him off.

Why is he doing it? To get phlegm out or cuz he saw someone else doing it? I would do anything it takes to stop this but I also know that ALL MEN SPIT.and they don't care that we don't like it.lolol.so maybe its natural.lol.
