I'm not sure but have heard that children on the spectrum have low blood flow to the same area of the brain as they have found with depression

I don't know the statistics, but Calvin is diagnosed with both autism and bipolar disorder (manic depression). The two conditions seem to set each other off.

It is fairly common for ASD children to also have other medical issues other than the ASD and that includes mental disabilities. I do not know the statistics for depression specifically but I have heard of it being a secondary condition.

I don't know the answer to that. But the website www.nami.org might help. It's Mental Illness Awareness Week, by the way.
