Usually the Public school system has a special unit for evaluation children with special needs. Then if the child qualifies they go to public school with all the necessary assistance as specified in their IEP (individual education plan). After a year in public school you can apply for a Mckay Scholarship and use the money designated for your child in public school to apply and attend private school. This helps because I did my research and private schools for children on the spectrum run about 8k-22k a year. Good luck. =)

Thanks! We're currently living in SC but are looking into moving to Asheville in the spring. My son will turn 3 over the summer and will be attending pre-k next fall.
