She Is Out Of Control Tantrum For The Last Couple Of Days... Any Suggestions, Please?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

my daughter,3, came out of a week with the flu, missed some therapy sessions and classes, so this week she is really acting up with the tantrums. does any one have any tips or ideas of how to deal with it or other possibilities of what could be causing this?

That's also a possibility. Ear infections often come with illness.

PECS is a picture exchange communication system. For some children, they can be used as a method of communication. For others, it can be used for a visual of what comes next. It can be used in both ways for many.

This is an example of what one may look like:

You can really make your own however best suits your child:

All I can say is hang in there. When she gets back in the hang of her routine, the meltdowns will likely ease. Disruption to routine can greatly impact our children.

Does she do pecs at all? A picture schedule can often help with getting into a routine.

No problem. I hope it helps. I know visuals help with my son. 😊

Wow @A MyAutismTeam Member thanks so much for your help. We are slowly coming back to routine although the refusal to dress up is still a problem. I will discuss PECS with our therapist and probably will make our own like you showed. Thanks again

I should also add that instead of laminating printed pictures, you could also just take pictures of objects or of people performing tasks and velcro the back of them. An example would be taking a picture of the child's bed for bedtime.
