My 2and 1/2 year old daughter has never called me mommy. She always likes to label things or repeat rhymes. Has anyone gone through this issue?

Members connected over the shared experience of waiting for their toddlers to say 'mommy,' with many acknowledging that while their children could identify them as 'mommy' when asked, spontaneous speech took more time. Several members shared practical strategies that helped, including visual PECS charts with family photos, sign language, and notably B-complex vitamin supplementation, with one member reporting that adding Thorne Research B-complex (mixed in apple juice) and removing milk from the diet led to spontaneous expressive speech around age two. A recurring theme was patience, celebrating small victories, and trusting that with support and time, the moment will come and be deeply treasured.

We had spontaneous expressive speech (including calling mom and daddy) shortly after introducing a B-complex vitamin (around 2.25yrs). Before that it was all labelling only - our son could identify who is mommy and daddy in pictures or person but never called us that. Removing milk was also huge for us at that age.

Have you thought about using visual charts? Such take a pic of your self and a pic of her and then a pic of each other. Each time point to your pic and say mommy and then point to her pic and say her name etc.. Just an idea..

Thanks facetious. It was very helpful information.

Ramp up dose gradually to one cap. A small subset of kids cannot tolerate higher dose b vitamins. Our son had no issues with even higher doses.

This is one that we use

http://m.iherb.com/Thorne-Research-B-Complex-12...

It shows out of stock but they refill stock quickly. We used to open up capsule and put half in apple juice twice a day. It mixes well and tastes okay (unlike the liquid ones). After a few months we reduce dosage to just half a capsule.
