I know a few. But here's the deal. There are literally thousands of studies looking at over millions of cases longitudinally that have ultimately said there is no connection, no causation, and no correlation. And it is offensive to any actually autistic individuals that may be on this site to even approach this topic.

It is okay... It was just the way you phrased it. I felt like you were saying that the thought was not believable. It is all good though. Aside from the flapping and screaming/crying for no apparent reason, my son was developing normal and started to kind of regress at around 18-24 months. I have no idea of whether immunizations are related- I have read many studies (previous to ever even thinking my son had ASD) about immunizations and their possible link. I found the studies to make good sense, however nothing has truly been proven. Now that my son already has ASD, I will continue to get him immunizations, as I still fear him catching something deadly if I do not. If I had another child on the way, I might be doing a lot of researching and have some worry about the idea.

I honestly wish that they could prove whether immunizations are a cause or not- The debate has been going on for far too long. It is scary- A parent would hate to think that they are putting their child at risk by immunizing- But also, putting them at risk by not immunizing. After having one child with ASD, it is definitely a scary decision either way that you choose. Best of Luck to you...

when my son was born, he was hand flapping immediately- The doctors immediately started wondering why he was moving his hands in such a way. I am a cigarette smoker and had a hard time quitting while pregnant. (As mush as I hate to admit, I smoked throughout my pregnancy a few cigs a day) and I am not proud of it. Since the doctors could not explain his strange hand movements, they tried to connect it to my cigarette use, but could not say positively. It is obvious to me that this was because of all of the sudden sounds, bright lights, etc. After we got him home, for the first year of his life, he would scream and cry for no apparent reason- He was clean, fed, etc. His hand flapping never subsided and he does it to this day when anxious. It was the first symptom of ASD that the doctors noticed. I believe this is all related to the sensory processing disorder. I could be wrong- However I do believe that ASD is a genetic disorder, as people have multiple children who are ASD. My son has a cousin with ASD. I can not say one way or another whether immunizations are connected in anyway, but I do know that ASD is also a genetic condition. Your "tone" above was quite sarcastic, however I feel that my son was displaying these symptoms as soon as he was born due to sensory overload. Whether you believe me or not, I was there.

The use of an injected and inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) replaced its usage in the Western world, while oral polio vaccine continues to be used in the developing world.

Wikipedia notes that the WHO “considers the benefits of vaccination to far outweigh the risk of vaccine derived polio.”
