I just had my home visit for IHSS. I live in San Diego County, CA. I had my sons doctor fill out the initial form as requested. The social worker who is in charge of my sons case was not helpful. She had me explain all of Lucas' abilities/inabilities & basically said she needs me to right up a statement noting all of Lucas' "severe" behaviors. It's a newsletter that comes out a few times a week. Just a few days ago, there was a post for an event on navigating IHSS. I think it was put on my a special ed law firm, Schwartz and Storey? I do know that you can appeal the decision immediately if you are rejected. It's not usual to be rejected or to have an unhelpful caseworker.
Hi there. I used the county's Early Intervention Services. It is a free assessment of your child and free, in home, therapy maybe once or twice a week. They have a TON of resources. I am not sure that the social services you mention is the same thing. Let me know. I have a lot of experience in all of this. It's a work in progress for my little 5 year old. Thanks!
