Members facing challenges with their children's sleep shared a wide range of approaches that have worked for them, with melatonin being the most frequently mentioned solution, though many noted that dosages often needed adjustment over time or that it eventually stopped working. Several members recommended trying natural alternatives first, including valerian root, lavender oils or scents, Epsom salt baths, magnesium supplements, and even ensuring proper vitamin D levels, with one member crediting alkaline ionized water for dramatically improving their son's sleep. A recurring theme was the importance of creating calming bedtime routines, such as reducing screen time, using sound machines, applying deep pressure or backrubs, and consulting doctors to find the right combination of supports tailored to each child's unique needs.

Our son slept better after he was on the right level of vitamin D. Check with your doctor on this...

We are using bath salts that have epsom which is a relaxant. The salts also have soft colours which relax the mind and body.what would be very helpful before the bath is to switch lights off and tv also.

Try Valerian before prescribed medicine. Also try soothing music at bedtime.

Our son is 24 years old and weighs over 200lbs, so I wanted to give some perspective. For us, Source Naturals sublingual 2.5 MG works. Anymore and he's groggy. Recently, we added NOW FOODS 5HTP, either 100mg or 200mg and it's helped a lot. I like Pure Vitality Magnesium Oil, because it's food grade and 2 or 4 sprays in his water helps, it absorbs easily in the bath and on the skin. Calm is a great magnesium, but we can't always get him to drink it.
Since he's older, we can't easily control screen time. Please don't judge. But, if we can get him away from the many hours on his phone or playing video games, it helps to calm his brain.

Recently, a specialist, recommended 1. 30 minutes of sunlight 2. 30 minutes of aerobic activity 3. 30 minutes a day on Brain HQ, which is more sophisticated than Luminosity. We haven't been able to get him to do it, but I feel a lot better when I do.
