If you want a doctor that can help with suspected seizure activity I would go with a Neurologist because that is what they do. Also they can help you with the med situation as well.

When it comes to meds there is a common misconception that using meds means you are drugging the personality out of the child and making them a zombie. When I hear these types of things it just makes me think that you have a situation where the doctor is not handling things correctly. In many parts of the country it is hard to find a doctor that knows meds and knows about ASD and how the two work together. You can Medicare without the zombie effect it just takes the correct med at the correct dosage.

You have to remember that not all meds work the same for everyone so you have to do some trial and error. Once you have the correct med yiu then work with the dosage. Sometimes you only need the med for a certain time while the therapies are being worked on and then you can take them off. The earlier you start the better the result when it comes to ASD so the skills the children can attain early on will help them later.

As for biomed we tried it with our daughter but it didn't really work. I will say my daughter is on an entirely different level than your child, she is severe ASD and nonverbal so she does not have the capability to have social reactions and has no concept of anyone but herself. She gets intense therapies and has come a long way but is not likely going to ever worry about social issues with others.

We made the school district act with both of the children and they pay a lot for their care. We moved to a location where services are good and where they get what they need. The both have medical teams and not just one doctor as well so that helps. To accomplish this my wife and I sold what we had and sacrificed everything sobit had come at a cost. It is only a personal cost to my wife and I so the children get the best and have everything they need.

I only recently discovered that there was such a thing as a developmental pediatrician and when I asked our general practitioner about this, he had not heard of one but said if we found one he would give us a referral. Should my son be reevaluated by one of these specialists or a med maps doctor are they the same? I have also saw info about Dan doctors , I just have not figured out the difference and when I look up info I see mixed reviews about them and noticed some of the Dan practitioners are not even medical doctors. I am concerned that my son might also have underlying conditions like seizures that have not been detected because the right protocol was not followed when he had an EEG, from what I have seen by researching on my own there are some that are undetected with a simple one hour EEG. Do med maps doctors so this? How do I find the right one? I live in a very rural area and I suspect Atlanta is were we might find one. My son has adoption assistance Medicaid. Do these doctors take that? What did your son's biomedical protocal consist of. It's a funny thing when I looked into biomedical treatments I noticed there was some skepticism by quite a few medical doctors but when I started looking into research opportunities to get our foot in the door for some services I noticed there is a lot of research taking place on biomedicine for behavioral problems. This lead me to believe there is definitely something worthwhile in pursuing that option for my son.
