Our son generally doesn't like an idea of vacation. However, he has enjoyed some of them. We would like to try going on a cruise. I will appreciate any comments about a cruise line, experience, what to look for? Thanks.
My ASD daughter was 4 when took a cruise. She liked looking at the ocean and playing in the sea. We went on Carnival to Cozumel, Mexico from Tampa. We told the staff she had autism, cannot handle lines and we wanted to seated at a separate table. The complied with the requests. I ended up in the sickbay and a Mexican hospital due to chest pains. We later learned it was just heart burn not a heart attack but the cruise line advised us to leave the ship while in Mexico. Someone tried to use our credit and debit card info and we were there only 3 days. We didn't get any money back from Carnival and I doubt I'd cruise again because it just isn't for me. Too touristy at ports and my bad cruise experience on my single voyage confirmed my feelings.
By contrast, we just got back from flying to Japan, Singapore, Philippines and S. Korea. My daughter did pretty well. She had one meltdown in a hotel in Japan and had the annoying habit of talking loudly when she was supposed to be quiet.
Thank you so much for sharing your vacation experiences! Cheers!
