In The Arms Of My Safe Haven
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

What does your child have or use to help them feel safe and secure within their surroundings? How do they cope with their own security blanket? Where do they go to find that inner peace and comfort in knowing that everything isn't a battlefield?

Liam likes to go to what we call his safe place...which is under his blanket either by himself or with mom or dad...he also grabs me or my husband by the cheeks and goes forehead to forehead with us and breaths deep..he does that even when he doesn't need his safe place and I like to think that's his I love you to us in those moments.

My son has a bed tent. He has it filled with pillows and stuffed animals. There are also led lights there that he uses at night. He goes in his tent and completely zips it all shut when he needs to be alone.

Its amazing how much our kiddos truly do need to feel safe in their own way to thrive. I have found that my son likes to be underneath his blanket as well with his headphones on to feel like he has a sense of security. @A MyAutismTeam Member That truly is an awesome and heartfelt way to say I love you.

Even though my daughter's older 14, when facing challenges or even just falling asleep she liked courage the cowardly dog. We're getting her to leave it in the car when going shopping now or even go up the softball field without it, little by little.
