Any Stay At Home Moms That Earn Income On The Side?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm desperately trying to stay home with my son, who will be starting pre-k next week (hopefilly). I really want to stay home with him to enjoy this time with him and also because I don't trust anyone to get him to and from school. But, being that we are in CA and in order to survive out here, 2 incomes are the norm these days. I am trying to think of ways to stay at home and earn extra money so I can still contribute. I considered dog walking, but realistically that isn't going to pay much. I… read more

I'm not sure how helpful this is, because it is something that I realized I enjoyed after being self-taught, but I started my own photography company.

Don't be fooled, I am still very much in the early stages of it but I had been using my iPhone to take photos of Norah at each milestone month up until her 9th month. My fiancé is a team leader in the digital imaging department at Best Buy, and they provided him with a camera for sales purposes. When I started using it, I fell in love. It's been a learning experience for sure, but for now it's bringing in some money here and there. I did my first wedding, I've done newborn, family, senior, and engagement sessions. There's a lot of competition out there, but the fight to the top is worth it in my opinion. Norah is by far my greatest source of inspiration to keep at it until I have my own studio.

I've heard of remote employment opportunities through Alorica, which I believe is an insurance company of some sort. They require certain equipment( i.e a certain size computer and a land line), but you are typically only paid approximately $9/hour😑 I've found several remote jobs via LinkedIn, such as Verizon, Enterprise, etc.(no luck yet), although I know there are other arenas to search through.

I feel like this may not be helpful but I hope it is. Believe me, I'm in the same boat as you. I feel worthless sometimes knowing I have an art history degree, cannot find work, and don't contribute. Even though my fiancé swears to high heaven I'm giving the greatest contribution ever by raising our daughter and wants me to stay home now more than ever since the diagnosis, but some days it's just not the same as going out and working.

Much love and support to you my friend 💗💗

@A MyAutismTeam Member I'm really not trying to go the sales route, I don't want the pressure of having to meet quota or a certain sale number. But thank you for the offer. 😚

@A MyAutismTeam Member, I too have looked at options to stay home. I will have to look at Linkedin. @A MyAutismTeam Member - How did you get on SSI?Are you covered or you Son? It sounds like you are a single parent. We are in a tough boat with being a family with 5 kids and on paper making too much money but day to day are barely making it. I have my own health issues that are making it difficult to continue to work outside my home. But I don't know what to do to make money and get my son and other kids the things they need.
