Hi everyone! I’m looking for leads, advice, and/or feedback regarding services for adults with special needs. I have family in Texas and I’m vetting the Lone Star State as a retirement spot. In Orange County, CA now, but it’s too costly for retirement.
Any and all comments are welcome. I’m vetting a couple of other states too, and will post the same questions. Thank you for your patience. I’m doing all I can to protect my son’s interests.
Texas is a good place to retire, but waiting list for adults services in Texas are long. We are still looking for OT and PT who will accept the states waiver rates. Not to mention PT's follow a standard evaluation instead of one having to do with autism. I read here on MAT that Connecticut is a good place for services. I am not sure if it is a good state to reitre. You might try doing a search on the activity page or here on Q&A. Hope this helps.
Thanks ! Geez that is a long wait. It seems one has to look high and low for adult services. I’ll check out the Burke Center.
@A MyAutismTeam Member It could be up to 10 to 12 years. If you do consider Texas, contact the Burke Center in the county you will reside, I am unsure about the regional centers.
Hi Cynthia. Thanks for the intel. How long is long in the great state of Texas? Do y’all have the equivalent of regional centers like California?
