- Gather documentation of your diagnosis, as most colleges require this to set up accommodations
- Ask specifically what accommodations are available (extended test time, quiet testing rooms, note-taking support, etc.)

Once Enrolled:
- Self-advocacy is crucial — disability services only help if you use them
- Connect with an academic advisor who has experience supporting neurodivergent students
- Look for campus clubs or social groups with shared interests, as these can be great for building friendships in a low-pressure way

Things to Watch For:
- Some colleges have more robust support than others — it's worth researching before committing to a school
- If services feel inadequate, you have the right to appeal or request additional support
- Peer mentoring programs specifically for autistic students exist at some universities
