My son is four and a half years old. He was in early intervention from 2y-3y. Now he is in a headstart program with a speech, occupational and physical therapist in a class of only 8 children including himself. Recently thought about genetic counseling but wanted opinions on the benefits or if its worth looking into.
1)what’s the $ cost?
2) genetic tests are done in succession. Test 1 inconclusive then test 2 etc etc
3) if something does show up in the test, medication helps in about 10-20% (could be wrong about the %, it’s been a while since I looked into this)
4) if your child had global delays , they will grow on their own time at their own pace. You can keep teaching and pushing but the pace will be set by the kid.
5)can’t find any negatives about it other than it’s time consuming and expensive.
