Oh Boy! I did a DEEP dive on this for months (pun!). Read all the reviews in the valley and beyond. My son is 4.75 years old. He also loves the water, I had him in swim lessons at age 2 in Calabasas @ Tennis and swim clubhttp://www.calabasastsc.com. It was a great intro to swimming, with the parent in the water, relatively inexpensive, beautiful place too. This summer, I did a huge search to find lessons. I ended up doing free swim lessons at our local pool. Good, because they were free and daily for a month. I was able to see his strengths and alternatively learn that he was gonna need one on one lessons. I found Allyson at https://www.revolutionswimming.com. It's a private heated pool in the valley. We saw her for a month and while we liked her a lot and she is a former ABA therapist, I wanted indoor year round. We are now starting here next month.https://waterworksswim.com/Pasadena/. Hope this helps.

Is your kid a complete fish? Ours is! I put him into swimming lessons at the YMCA when he was about 2.... he didn't like the lessons, just the water =) If you want him to learn practical skills, I might suggest looking for private lessons? Our other son is taking lessons at a place called AVAC Swim School, and the student-to-teacher ratio is just 4 to 1. Guess it depends on what kinds of listening abilities your kiddo has. That place is a chain, there might be branches in LA- they're quite reasonable.
