At age 2 my vote would be “Repetitive movement”. Both my kids have had different kinds over the years. Same boat as “hand stimming”.

I'm assuming it either feels good, or is a repetitive movement that makes her feel comfortable. Does she have a therapist you can ask?

Children that age are discovering their bodies and sometimes use objects to kind of masturbate. With verbal children the best thing to do (or so I have been taught as an elem ed major and a preschool teacher in former lives) was to explain that is a private act. It's what I dis with J and R. But your daughter is non-verbal so I'm at a loss. I might be able to ask around.

There’s 2 schools of thought that worked for me and my wife. A) Ignore and act like their invisible aka support it. B) As soon as they setup/ start, distract them with another action that they like to do.

Warning, B) can sometimes turn into nothing but a replacement game. LOL! But it is a good way to find out if it’s a stim or a OCD (there is sometimes a difference between the two).

Mind me asking what her bowel movements are like? My son is now 17 and past the clinical point of no return so the past year I’ve been focusing again on vitamins/ supplements with very good success. Hell! My son has had diarrhea and been in diapers since he was born. Now, rarely using diapers and he’s having solid BM’s. Doesn’t seem like much but think of it this way...ladies, imagine changing your man’s diaper after a big meal....TWICE A DAY!
That’s what a 17yr old pooping in a Depends diaper is like!
Ewwwwwww!
LOL
