I have an 11 year old on the autism spectrum-partially verbal. He pours liquids out of the windows whenever he can get one open. He also pours liquids on people he is curious about and wants to interact with. Have any of you had this problem and what can I do?
@A MyAutismTeam Member mine drinks from any cup - reg cups and sippies and bottles! He loves and wants them all. And YES does the same thing - chucks them on the floor when he’s done like a frat boy. We had to switch to all plastic drinkware while we teach not to do that!
@A MyAutismTeam Member same here! Consolidating all cups into one.
We have to hide our drinks all the time
@A MyAutismTeam Member does yours drink from a regular cup or a sippy?? Mine still uses a sippy. He thinks when he's finished drinking that means he can just throw the sippy down on the floor..I think i just need to put in the time to teach him how to treat cups/glasses properly.
My son is 8 and non verbal; he loves pouring liquids! He gets really excited and flappy and vocal when I fill his sippy cup if he's watching. He also likes to go and take everybody's cups and pour everyone's drinks into one cup. Its definitely a sensory thing with my son.
