Getting Law Enforcement Involved
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone got to the point where they have had to get LE involved. Yesterday my son was screaming at the top of his lungs in Walmart cussing and threatening people. Once in the car he's screaming at the top of his lungs I have to drive 20 mind to get home by the time I got to town he had his Nintendo switch cord around his neck trying to strangle himself. He's 11 he's been violent and out of control for too long an advocate for him at the autism society tells me to call for a crisis… read more

I forgot to add about your kiddo being a runner. My Son wears a tether that clips to a belt he wears and then the other end to my belt loop, so he can't run off. When we go for a walk or busier places, he rides in his wheelchair with a belt wide chair belt that clips in the back so he can't run off and get lost or hit by a car. I hope this helps.

Has your kiddo been tested for P.A.N.D.A.S., or P.A.N.S.? It sounds like he is dealing with more than just Autism. My Son had PANDAS as well as Autism, but doesn't have the rage that a lot of people have with it. Please look it up and read up on it to see if it could be your child. Regardless, he should be evaluated to see what he is dealing with. I hope you get the answers you need soon. <3

You're welcome! I know your son will be ok! There is help out there for him and sometimes you just have to dig around and see what they have locally. You will be ok too! Believe in yourself! HUGS

No, luckily my 11 year old daughter isn't that violent. She can be loud at times and has been known to swear because she thinks it's funny. Do you know what triggered his bad behavior at Walmart? If my kid started screaming in the car, I'd pull over in an isolated spot and get out of the car with my keys if I had the time to do so. That can cause an accident. Does that happen a lot? "Nintendo switch cord around his neck trying to strangle himself." Again is that a pattern for him?

You shouldn't feel guilty about having your son watching "Scared Straight" because he can learn know that kids can end up in juvenile detention or later end up going into an adult facility.

I have a non-ASD nephew who got a 10 year sentence in Florida prisons. People who can't accept rules sometimes end up facing off against other people who will not hold back on them or they end up in jail.

Is there any activity to or group wear down his energy somewhat? Sports? Hiking? He probably doesn't appreciate all you do for him and it may get worse through puberty. You may point out life will get hard for him without you.
