That is such a good idea and I tried so hard to get the parents involved at some of the schools in Chicago especially on the south side where I live in Bronzeville, however the parents seemed afraid to open up. I work in law enforcement so I talk a lot, but on field trips, a meetings at the school, events and a number of other places that large groups of parents gathered, I would try and start up a conversation on this very thing and although some of the teachers tried to assist me, the parents just did not warm up to the idea ever and trust and believe, we all need a support system. It helps to talk about these things and all the issues we face as parents of these lovely autistic children because it is hard going it alone without anyone to talk to, but I love all of you. You have helped me a whole bunch.
