Members encouraged someone preparing for their driving theory test by emphasizing how driving opens up independence, job flexibility, and the freedom to visit loved ones anytime. Several members shared practical learning strategies, including watching road rules videos online, mentally practicing decision-making from the passenger seat, observing experienced drivers' mirror checks and hand-foot coordination, and getting hands-on practice in empty parking lots before taking the official test. A recurring theme was the value of asking questions without hesitation, combining formal instruction with real-world observation, and recognizing that passing the test is just the beginning of building true driving confidence.

Hello:) here we have to get a permit first. It’s a written test that, if you pass, allows you to drive with someone in the car who has a license. As with the other posts advice.., you can learn through the internet & ask questions about the rules of the road. Perhaps a friend can take you to an empty parking lot & let you practice some driving.
I passed the drivers test at 17 yrs.
old. I definitely needed more practice even though I passed.
Learn all you can & take the test.

Also @A MyAutismTeam Member, when riding in anyone's vehicle, try to take the seat behind the passenger so you can watch their hands and feet and how often that they look at their mirrors and over their shoulders.
Don't be afraid of asking the driver questions. (unless it annoys them)

@A MyAutismTeam Member, Watch some videos of the 'Road Rules' and drivers practicing them and put yourself (Imaginary/Mentally) in the Driver's Seat. Think to yourself when it's appropriate to accelerate and when to Brake, who has the Right-of-Way, and then learn the parts of a car by watching people online who work on their own cars.

Driving will give you a lot of increased independence. It can allow you the freedom to move or change jobs. You can come and go anytime you please or need to regardless of the hour. I learned from my parents but ended up taking as driver's ed class as well.
