@A MyAutismTeam Member -Autistics?? Autism is a spectrum with a varying of unique gifts to the individual. A lot of autistic children do very well in school & move on to college. They are as different to each other as neurotypicals are. To make a blanket statement like that is what people without autistic children do, they lump them into one box. I would not of thought I would have read that remark on here.

How exciting — what a wonderful step to take for your daughter! Many families in the autism community have found homeschooling to be a great fit, giving kids the flexibility to learn at their own pace in a comfortable environment.
Here are some tips and curriculum options worth exploring for a 7-8 year old:
You don’t need a program. Use everyday life experiences instead! Reading can be done by borrowing books from the library. Geography, history and even basic sociology and psychology can be done by field trips to different places, museums and such. Animal studies can be done at the zoo. Basic can be done during shopping or banking.
And that grade-by-age business just gives kids a false sense of competition! Just proceed according to its abilities and focus on strengths. Don’t deal with grade level.
Home/life schooling really is the answer in educating Autistics- no school can be trusted!
