Once we got our sons thyroid sorted out, we looked into cortisol, and that too. As low. We're giving him adrenal support and his energy is so much better. We t Reid both forms of carnitine, seemed… read more
One of my HFA sons seems to have abilities that come and go. One day he can tie his shoes and a few days later he forgets the process and gets frustrated. This has happened with other motor skills. He is on a GFCF diet and takes supplements and is doing well by many other accounts but these "forgotten" abilities are baffling us. We don't see a pattern related to diet.

Anybody have ideas about chillin in airports? My 20 year old is going to Alaska- cross country with us to visit her brother! She loves to engage people by poking or stepping on their feet- yikes!
We traveled the Alaska Canadian Highway several times. AKA the Alcan. My autistic child taught himself to read by being provided with lots of brochures and finding them along the roadway along with… read more
I saw an advertisment on my fb page saying it helps with sensory overload and takes the anger away. Does it work or is it a fraud?

My 21 month old son has a lot of fits, never seems happy or satisfied. He has a severe speech delay along with several obsessive behavior problems such as stimming will running along objects, and he takes anything he can hold in his hand like cars, shapes, puzzle pieces and turns them in circles over and over. He has been in birth to three program for 4 months but so fair no improvement. I'm reading a lot of good things about vitamins and suppliments helping other kids. I want to try something… read more

Hi all. My question is: Does anyone go to church with their ASD little ones? Do you feel welcome? My son is non-verbal but he makes a lot of vocalizations. I don't want to bother the other folks at church, but i also want us to be able to attend church as a family. My son would not be able to leave our side and go to any of the Childrens' ministry rooms; he would stay with us the whole service. I am so afraid people will wish we hadn't come; this is my biggest reason for not going. We get lots… read more
@A MyAutismTeam Member that's wonderful to know she is able to attend mass. My husband and I talked a long time about it today and decided we might try attending a night service somewhere, less… read more
We are devout Catholics and I am amazed at how little the church community understands about autism. Our son made his First Communion last year, but it was a struggle. I am now teaching the first catechism class in our diocese specially designed for kids with autism but I found the parents are very self concious about bringing their kids to church. Do you bring your kids to a faith community or place of worship and, if so, how do you manage behaviors that are inconsistent with church… read more
