She's in a christian school currently and they are not helping in getting her help. They are trying to label her as a "bad child" and writing reports up on her every day. We recently met w/ her Pediatrician who is in the process of getting her properly diagnosed. Any help during the "in-between" phase would be tremendous. Please help...
I would suggest you get copies of all those bad reports...and put them with all your doctor visits...those bad reports could indicate something to a professional...more tests I'm sure will be done...then when you get a diagnosis for your child...bring that back to their attention and suggest they get up to date training so the next child in a similar situation would not be treated so badly...
Thanks LauriKelso! I did just that, take the reports w/ me to her first prof visit. It wasn't an evaluation but more of an interview of what to do next. Next question coming in a moment! :)
If you let her go to public school you have more rights to receive individual education plan...going to private school bars her from this assistance...
WHAT!?! i can say this cuz i'm a christian, and that sounds like blind "spare the rod, spoil the child" ignorance--get her out of that school immediately! any school that tries to tell you that your child is bad is a BAD SCHOOL. they should be more charitable than everyone else. it' makes me wonder about their credentials. 5 is too late for early intervention, you will have to register your child with your local school district and request a full evaluation from a state approved provider and the state or school district must pay for it. hope this helps...ask for more help if you need it. peace, in Christ. janene
my daughter was evaluated by Early Intervention and put in a preschool program at 3, in our local district. she wasn't diagnosed until like 6 to 8 months after that.
