We stayed in the house for 3 straight days with my son in grey undies (makes it really easy to see if a mistake is coming). If he looked like an accident was coming I picked him up and ran to the toilet . He got the idea quickly and started taking my hand to take me to the bathroom when he needed to go.
Patience. It depends on the diagnosis but 3 y. O. Is very early if it's Autism. Keep talking to him/her. Brain records verbal. Like a story. And keep the routine. But patience is the most important thing.
We use PECS with my daughter. She can now go every 25 minutes without accidents when I take her. It's been 2 months since we started. We started with every 10 minutes without underwear. She gets a reinforcer every time she goes. She's 2 years 10 months.
We used the pull ups at night. We told him he could stop using them if he went 5 nights dry. He's pretty good now and if he makes a mistake overnight then it's usually that something is bothering him or he's getting sick. If he has a few overnight accidents in a row then the pull ups come back until 5 dry nights have happened again.
Thank you! I hope to try this! What about night time?
