How do u know if your child needs ABA?

It’s usually the recommendation of the Dr who diagnosed. If it’s something you’re considering then you’d have an evaluation done just like with other services like speech and OT

Does Anyone Have Any Methods That Have Worked For Getting A Young Adult With ASD To Speak Up In Loud Places Or When Meeting New People?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son is 21 and very shy. He just started a part time job in a movie theater. He needs to speak up in the loud foyer of the theater so that the patrons can hear him. He has had years of speech therapy, worked with a voice coach and has had social skills training. I am wondering if anyone has had luck with getting their child to speak up. Are there any techniques that have worked for you.

Actually, it is two years later and he is now 23. After many therapies and a full time work skills program for eighteen months, I would not characterize him as shy anymore. He has found his voice, for… read more

Looking For Behavior Medication.
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 7 year old transition verbal (he is saying words but struggles to find the right words at the correct time) son has severe behaviors. I am concerned because when he gets frustrated he head bangs. Recently he head butted the director at his school. When he gets upset he goes 0-10. I have tried to avoid meds by trying the natural route. Unfortunately, he is getting older and bigger. I am currently trying bioray calm. We have Ben using it for about 3 days.I’m not sure if it is working yet. I am… read more

Does Anyone Know Where We Can Obtain Funding For Developing A Program For Young ASD Adults (age 21+) ?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My daughter and 2 of her classmates will soon "age-out" of our state's education program for special needs children. They have "behaviors" that will prevent them from obtaining and keeping a job. There are also no affordable facilities or programs for young adults in our area. As a group we would like to develop a program similar to the one they have at school but lack the funds. I've researched online but was only shown sites to obtain funding for chartering a school which is not what we… read more

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

The doctor then changed him to sere quell which also did not work because of the side effect call ankathesia ( excuse the spelling) a state which he becomes like so hyper that he will not stay still… read more

Has Anybody Heard Of Cindy Hebbard: Freedom For Autism?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

So, I saw this add for a program for our kids that claims 100% positive results. Apparently, it is tailored to each individual child to take specific steps to improve their behavior, diets, social skills, etc. without the use of ABA. I had a one on one call with the founder last week and she claims to have a daughter on the spectrum that has learned to thrive through her program and her website touts other testimonials of people who have seen social, emotional, and verbal improvements in their… read more

Are Autistic Children Capable Of Learning How To Swim?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am interested in signing up my daughter for swimming lessons. She loves the water and I notice that she tries to float on her own, but I am not sure If she is capable of succeeding in that due to her lack of listening skills. Is there any other mothers out there that has a child with autism and has them in swimming lessons?
