I am trying to substitute soda for flavored sparkling water for my daughter. Fortunately she likes sparkling water but I have heard that sparkling water has an ingredient that is not good for children. Does anyone know if this true or not? Does any of your young ones enjoy drinking sparkling water?
The only thing I have ever heard is not good would be the artificial sweetener and color. If you are getting the clear ones then the color would not be an issue.
Maybe I am doing the wrong thing but I would much rather give the children the artificial sweetener than some of the other drinks that soda. We actually try not to give them a lot of real juice either because of the sugar.
You could always get a SodaStream. At least then you'll know exactly what is in it. If she likes unflavored soda water, then you know for certainly it only has carbonation from carbon dioxide. If she likes flavored soda water, then as far as I know, every ingredient is listed on the flavorings. If you're concerned about a particular ingredient, google it first. A lot of times long, unpronounceable ingredients are entirely harmless and not even what you'd expect them to be. Probably the most healthy seltzer from SodaStream is the Gourmet Lime Basil.
Ok, thanks!
